Gianluca Stringhini gives a keynote on Measuring and Modeling Online Hate

Gianluca Stringhini gives a keynote on Measuring and Modeling Online Hate during the 8th Workshop on Socio-Technical Aspects in Security and Trust (STAST 2018).

The talk covers how polarized online communities (e.g., 4chan, Gab) play a key role in organizing hate campaigns against online users as well as generating conspiracy theories that are later pushed to mainstream outlets through coordinated efforts. Dr. Stringhini also presents our measurement studies geared towards characterizing these communities and measuring their impact on mainstream social networks.
